Amanda Weitz (née Etchison) is a writer, former journalist, and multimedia storyteller living in Marysville, Ohio. She currently works at the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption as a manager of business development and government relations. Prior to taking on this role, she served as a manager of strategic communications at the Foundation and a communications strategist at the Ohio Arts Council.
Amanda has experience writing and editing for a variety of national and local media outlets, such as the USA TODAY NETWORK, the Arizona Republic, BroadwayWorld.com, and Columbus' CityScene Media Group. While attending the Ohio State University, Amanda served as editor in chief of The Lantern, the university's student newspaper.
As an events assistant for VIP and sponsor relations at the City of Dublin Events Administration in her hometown of Dublin, Ohio, Amanda worked closely with VIPs, sponsors, and the media to promote city events, including the annual Dublin Irish Festival, one of the largest Irish culture festivals in the world.
Amanda graduated summa cum laude from Ohio State, where she studied journalism and Chinese within the university's honors program. Following graduation, she has volunteered as a mentor in the university's College of Arts and Sciences Match 100 Mentor Program. In December 2023, Amanda received her master's degree in public policy and administration from Northwestern University.
In her free time, Amanda enjoys playing French horn in local theatre productions, reading, and writing speculative fiction.
