Amanda Weitz currently works as a business development senior associate at the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption, where she focuses on state government relations and child welfare policy. Prior to taking on this role, she served as a manager of strategic communications at the Foundation and a communications strategist at the Ohio Arts Council.
A writer and former journalist, Amanda previously contributed to the USA TODAY NETWORK, the Arizona Republic, BroadwayWorld.com, and Columbus' CityScene Media Group. While attending the Ohio State University, Amanda served as editor in chief of The Lantern, the university's student newspaper. She also has experience in event planning, multimedia production, and social-media management. Amanda graduated summa cum laude from Ohio State, where she studied journalism and Chinese within the university's honors program. In December 2023, Amanda received her master's degree in public policy and administration from Northwestern University. In her free time, Amanda volunteers as a member of the Design Committee for Main Street Marysville, an organization focused on preserving and enhancing the historic character and economic vitality of Uptown Marysville, Ohio. She also serves on the Delaware County Community Corrections Planning Board and is an active member of Women in Government Relations' State Relations Task Force and the Steering and Communications Committees for Ohio Women in Government. Amanda is an alumni mentor in the Ohio State College of Arts and Sciences, and she enjoys playing French horn in local theatre productions, reading, and writing speculative fiction. |
